Anyway, located on the Portswood Road, 7Bone Burger Co. is one of my favourite burger places in the UK. They have a fun chilled out vibe and serve absolutely delicious food. It’ win win, really.
In true ‘moving into a uni house’ style, we arrived, shoved everything in her room and quickly set back off again for some food. We don’t hang about. As usual, 7Bone was our first port of call. It’s actually the only restaurant – bar one – that I’ve ever been to in Southampton. Granted, I don’t get down there much, living in Durham most of the year, but still. Why go anywhere else when you’ve found a gem?
Naturally, as the kind of cool blogging gal that I am, I brought my camera along. I got a new lens for my birthday (yasss!) and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to try it out a little bit. Cue occasionally funny looks from people at nearby tables because I’m being ‘that person’.
A favourite of my sister’s is the ‘Prince Charles is overrated’ burger – beef patty, bacon, cheese, shredded iceberg lettuce, pickles, dirty spread. Having tried it a few visits ago, I can wee why. Simple and delicious, it’s definitely a winner. She’s also a fan of the chilli cheese fries and can you blame her? Look at them! It’s a big red basket of heaven! (She’s the one with the ketchup bottle.)
My fave, however, is the ‘Robert Johnston’ burger – beef patty, cheese, truffled garlic mushrooms, truffle mayo. How amazing does that sound? It’s so rich and garlicky and delicious, I can’t recommend it enough. It’s everything I love in a burger.
The best burger I’ve ever had was in Vancouver, from a street food stall on Granville Island. I can’t explain what it was that made it such a good burger, but it changed my life. There’s a snap of it on my instagram if you’re curious.
The ‘Robert Johnston’ comes a very close second, however. It’s divine. There is nothing not to love about garlicky truffle mushrooms in a fabulous bun. I’d also like to take this opportunity to shout out to the dirty fries that I always have with my burger. They’re the bomb.com.
I always like doing things like this with my family. There’s something really nice about going somewhere a little relaxed for good food and a bit of fun, and it was lovely to help my sister move into her *MASSIVE* uni room in her new house. I mean it’s legit massive. How has she managed to do that? It’s like the same size as my whole flat in Paris was – ish.
I move into my new uni flat next week at some point – not sure when, lol – and I’m hoping that the day will be just as nice, if a little exhausting. Obviously my sister won’t be there as she’ll have long started lectures, but hitting Ikea with my parents and finding some good food will be just as nice.
I love having my family, or friends that don’t know Durham, in Durham. It’s such a beautiful city and I love showing people around my home. Fingers crossed that in a few weeks there’ll be another post like this about somewhere in Durham.
